Get started with Dialed

Pick your Number.png

1. Choose your number

For most businesses, we recommend choosing a local area code. Customers are looking for transparency and authenticity, and you can build trust by choosing an area code that represents your location. On the other hand, if your business has a national or global presence (or if you want to look like a larger business) a toll-free or 1-800 number might be your best bet.

2. Import contacts

After you’ve selected your new business number, import your current customers into Dialed from your phone’s contact list or Square account. From here you can search contacts, see recent activity, edit contact details, and set up a blast SMS message to let your contacts know about your new number.

3. Tag your customers

Use labels to group similar customers by type, location, or whatever you can imagine. For example, you might want to create a label called “Repeat Customers” if repeat customers are especially important to your business.

Labels are fully customizable, so you can set them up to work best for your business, for staying organized, and for your marketing needs.

4. Set up office hours

Choose the days and times your business is open and when it’s not. When you’re not inside your set office hours, incoming text notifications are silenced and calls are sent directly to your business voicemail. You can check for new texts or voicemails when you are back in the office, by opening your inbox. Using office hours is a great way to control your schedule and protect your downtime.

5. Create a custom voicemail

Dialed has its own voicemail inbox, so you can set up a custom greeting for your clients and customers, separate from your personal voicemail. It’s a great opportunity to make a professional impression or provide vital information about your business. Use a pre-recorded greeting to let callers know your office hours, how to book appointments, or where to find your business online — the options are endless. There’s also a default voicemail greeting if you haven’t had the chance to set yours up yet.

6. Configure your answering service

Turn your phone into a mini office assistant by setting up a pre-recorded greeting that gives your callers options such as “press one for business hours” or “press two to schedule an appointment.” You can also choose to forward callers to one or more other numbers, move calls to texts, or allow callers to ring directly through to you.
